Wisdom Tooth Removal

The journey of wisdom tooth removal can appear daunting, but it's one of the most common dental procedures and can be a necessary stride towards protecting your oral health.

We combine state-of-the-art practices with a tender touch to ensure your wisdom tooth removal journey is smooth, comfortable, and stress-free.

What are wisdom teeth?

Wisdom teeth are a set of 4 molars that usually emerge between 17 and 25 at the back of the mouth. They often face space constraints in our modern human jaw, leading to misalignment or impaction, causing various dental complications.

This makes their removal a necessity for maintaining your best oral health.

How are wisdom teeth removed?

Wisdom teeth can be removed in one of two ways: simple or surgical. Because of their position at the back of the mouth, they can be tricky to reach and pull out, so a surgical root may be needed to remove the teeth or tooth safely.

  1. We first need to assess your wisdom teeth, their condition and position before making any final decisions. We'll use X-rays to see their impact and what the best method for removal will be.
  2. If we find it necessary to remove them, we will explain the process, ensure you're comfortable, and use local or general anaesthesia to numb the area or put you to sleep. Dr Faraaz Mathir will then use the best method to remove the tooth or teeth.
  3. Dr Mathir will brief you on the post-procedure instructions to follow, helping you to manage any discomfort and swelling and to keep the area clean for optimal healing.

Is the procedure painful?

With our use of local or general anaesthesia, you should feel no pain during the procedure. If you have some post-procedure discomfort, this can easily be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

What is the recovery process like after wisdom tooth removal?

Your recovery will take several days to weeks with some swelling and discomfort. This is all part of the healing process and will go away in the days following your procedure.
