We know just how crucial your smile is to your confidence and well-being. That's why, when dental decay threatens your oral health, our restorative fillings can bring your smile back to its full function and aesthetic beauty. Let us bring back the strength, structure and brilliance your smile deserves.
Dental fillings are needed when tooth decay has caused a cavity (hole) to form on a tooth surface. If left untreated, the cavity can continue to grow and cause pain, infection, and even tooth loss. A filling seals off the cavity, stopping the decay from advancing further.
Fillings come in all materials, but at Protea Dental, we provide only the most modern and effective solutions for damaged teeth. That's why we specialise in composite resin and porcelain fillings. These are crafted from tooth-coloured materials to ensure a natural and discreet finish. The filling blends seamlessly with your existing teeth, creating an aesthetically pleasing result that enhances your smile.
Composite resin fillings are applied to the tooth as a mouldable material and then cured, whereas porcelain fillings are made in a dental laboratory based on digital scans of your tooth.
Your comfort is our top priority at Protea Dental, so we will first administer a local anaesthetic to numb the area around the tooth.
The next step is thoroughly cleaning the tooth, removing all the bacteria and unhealthy tissue. Dr Faraaz Mathir will then prepare the tooth for the filling and either place the material or pre-made filling onto the tooth.
It's then shaped and polished to appear more natural. After checking your bite and making any adjustments, your tooth will be as good as new.
The longevity of a filling can depend on various things, like the material used, the location, and your oral hygiene practices. On average, a filling can last anywhere between 5-15 years or longer.
