Life is full of opportunities to smile, and at Protea Dental, we believe nothing should hold you back from expressing that joy. If missing teeth have caused you to hold back, then dentures are your solution to bring back your confidence.

Our dentures offer a practical and time-tested solution to restore your smile's full function and aesthetics, allowing you to embrace life's delightful moments again.

What are dentures?

Dentures are full or partial dental appliances that replace missing teeth. They look just like natural teeth and can enhance your smile and facial appearance.

There are two main types of dentures:

  • Full Dentures: Full or complete dentures are custom devices that replace all the teeth in your upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. These are custom-made to fit your mouth and match your existing tooth colour for a natural look.
  • Partial Dentures: If you're only missing some teeth, partial dentures could be more suitable. They fill in the gaps left by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from changing position.

Who are dentures designed for?

If you've lost all or most of your natural teeth, whether from gum disease, tooth decay or injury, dentures could improve your life significantly. They enable you to eat and speak better than you could without teeth.

What is the process for getting dentures?

Receiving your dentures may require 1-2 appointments over a few weeks:

  1. Dr Faraaz Mathir will do a complete analysis of your gums and jaw, taking impressions and measurements to ensure your dentures are the perfect fit.
  2. He will then have you try on a model denture to assess the colour, shape and fit before the final denture is created.
  3. In your final appointment, Dr Mathir will fit the final denture and make any necessary modifications to ensure a natural and comfortable fit.

How do I care for my new dentures?

Looking after your dentures is essential for their longevity. It involves daily cleaning to remove food particles and prevent staining. Handle them carefully to avoid dropping, and keep them in water or a safe solution when not wearing them.

You will also need to maintain regular dental check-ups to ensure your dentures perform as needed and keep your gums and any remaining teeth healthy.
